your right with alot of your points,
vestax are good (far better than any other new decks) and when i have used them, after half an hour i have got used to them

but i prefer technics (personal preference) iv'e used them for ten years and can play with them (pardon the pun) with my eye's closed

all the gadgets that you get with the vestax don't appeal to me at the moment,
what i think they have done is look at what dj's made technics do, and put those features onto new decks wich in my opinion is takeing away some of the skill required

    but maybe not

Well I think my Gemini 500's are the best!!

Honestly they are!! You all don't know what your missing. Its no fun when the needles aren't jumping all over the place or when the slightest touch doesn't stop the record or when a tiny push doesn't speed the record up by 10%.

I'm glad I've learnt on them though instead of Technics because I know I can step up to better decks like Technics and when I eventually get my own I'll hopefully be able to step back down. None of my mates with the decks the poll is about can use mine, but I find using theirs so much easier than my own.

I reckon everyone should be able to do this too (the step down thing). Actually I'm that kind that I'll swap mine for either Technics or Vestax (I'm not fussy which). I'll even come and pick them up. Can't say fairer than that. I'd be doing you a favour. You'll thank me in 6 months time when you finally got your head round these Gemini's and if your not happy with them I'll swap back. Anyone??

    Didn't think so.

So, if anyone agrees with the earlier points I've

Well, i thought i would post a reply on this one, my first post on this board too...

I remember having this big debate when i was choosing my new set of decks, VESTAX vs TECHNICS... this debate has gone on for a while now, but even all you Vestax lovers out there must admit, the end answer to it all is Technics. They have been the industry standard for all time.

I have to say though ive just used the PDX 2000's for the past 2 weeks since having my mates Vestax for a bit whilst we did a couple of parties over the new year and xmas and I think theres not much between the two apart from gadgets...which you dont need (a bit like my mates korg kaoss mixer - too many gadgets, makes you want to play with it all the time).

Either deck would suit me to be honest.. you should be able to use both after a warm up at anytime.

By the way, i actually purchased Gemini 2410's - the blue ones. Not for the colour although they go great in my blue room, but for the reason that u have to use the pitch all the time as one slight touch with your finger cocks everything up. The torque is there but the best thing is that it trains you up to just use the pitch control........and believe me they have worked a treat.
