When the chat room was on here the last time there were probably more people on the board on a daily basis than there are now. The problem is a lot of people are on the board at uni/work, and browse and post throughout the day. They don't have time to sit and chat.

Plus, and probably more importantly, most people on here have MSN.

    IMO a chat wouldn't wouldn't work.

IMO MSN Messenger is the worst piece of software to grace this earth. It's fine for talking to one or two people, but it can't handle more than four people at once in one conversation. And it can be hacked pretty easily...

The point about people being at work/uni is a good one though. I know people at uni who don't have a computer at home, and post regularly on the board...

All I'm saying is, why not give it a go?

I say what have we got to loose by having it, if people want to use it, they can, if they don’t, they don’t, unless it costs to host it

Usually they're free to put up (providing you're using an existing IRC network)

Some of the bigger networks require that you have a certain number of people prepared to support the channel (galaxynet requires six people put their name to the channel application, undernet requires ten people)

    Thats about it.
