Yeah I thought the warm-up was class. Mixing up a bit of everything - prog, breaks, techno without playing any big tunes. Set the club perfectly for tiesto

This whole weekend was just fucking quality, starting from the journey, safely driven by orbit, accompanied by craig and gill who spilt all her drinks on the way on me! to jontystars lovely house, where we were kindly allowed to stay over. This was my first trip to middlesboro and we approached the town I quickly became aware of how it derived it knickname, 'smogtown'!! After arriving later than planned we had to quickly rush our drinks down, and the taxis arrived and whisked us way into the town center, after stopping at a shop for some cigs, which craig actually thought was an HSBC bank as was already a bit fucked and was wondering why he couldn't get cash out!! Anyway we got out in town next to a cash point just opposite the empire at bout quarter to ten, but was shocked to see the absence of any q as we walked in!! It wasn't particulary busy at first but soon got more crowded downstairs altho upstairs was pretty quite all night. having getting a drink me and orbit decided to have a wonder about the place. We went into a couple of them little rooms on the balcony only to be shouted at by screaming old woman that they had payed £25 for their room (not indicated tho) so we should get out! She apperaed to be threatening violence so we quickly fled. When back with the rest we quickly saw how battered craig was already, and had already had been told twice that the bouncers were looking at him suspiciously!! The warm up dj, *insert name i've forgotten it!*, I was quite impressed with, he played varied music, the prog at the start epecially being excellent!! Think Tiesto came on at twelve, needless to say it went off, and I was also quite impressed with him but can't remember any stuff he played. I was hoping he would go on till a lame quarter past two (we had sign a petition on the way in for a 3:30license), but at least he signed autographs for us all!! The club itself is a bit weird compared to most dance clubs I've been to as the DJ is facing the way you come in, so you walk in at the front of the crowd. Personally I prefer the other way i.e. foundation. Anyway the time was up remarkably quickly and I can't remember gettin back to Nige's but I think I got a lift part of the way from Spiral (cheers m8 by the way). Back at the ranch the games really began, and we all ended drinking loads more and stuff. We were meant to be going to a party somewhere but after somehow making it down the stairs we only made it about one metre out the door before I became too scared to go to the ‘evil’ outside and forced myself back into the house and Nige collapsed on bench just outside & Craig (OFFICIAL NUTTER OF THE YEAR 7AD-2003AD) was just very messy! Can’t remember much from the next hour and a half but apparently we were scaring the other three quite a lot!! Nige had by now made it back and was asleep on the kitchen floor, while me and Craig hatched a plan to get upstairs without Orbit noticing! Sadly we failed cos we were too battered and laughing too much to achieve our aims. adventually decided to go to sleep and we all collapsed in the lounge. A bit later Nige managed to get back into the lounge and perched himself next to Craig much to Craig’s shock when he woke up with him now beside him! Cheers to every1(eventhho nobody’s guna be arsed to read all this) for making that such a good night)!!!!!!!After much little sleep and more talking we adventually had to go back to ncl, after apologising to the others for our state, Orbit driving us again! After boring stuff like washing up I then got ready to go to Shindig b-day part1 with my mates. This was a good night, thank god not as messy as Friday. Scooby and Scott were amazing as always. Pete Tong was pretty good as well, especially near the end, played some tunes can’t remember what tho…again! Got back about half five and got some kip, ready for another big day!! Was messing about till after three then decided to go for £10 Leeds to win after seeing ridiculus 7-1 odds, I pegged it to nearest bookies, it was 3:59 when I got there was 4:05 ko, but I was told I was too late!! watched match at Waterline. After watching this match I was so nervous I have officially no more nails left! But oh my god we won 3-2 and are safe virtually – phew (but still pissed off at being cheated of £70 by the bookie with the bad watch!!! Then I went straight in the queue for shindig part2. atmospher was amazing from bout 7 onwards!!. Tim Deluxe played a blinder and I enjoyed Morillo as well (although he is a bit predictable but a good laugh) – can’t believe tim just fell off his bike and broke his nose just in front of us, there was blood on the floor and everything!!! Overall what a weekend!!! Tank you and may I have more like it !!!! :chill: :chill:
The name you were missing for the warm up at The Empire was Oli Faulkner. Each to his own, but, we thought his set was a bit boring and didn't build up the atmosphere for Tiesto coming on. Bearing in mind that he was advertised on the website as playing for 3 hours...and we know that the Empire shuts shortly after 02.00, we were already pissed off by about 11.30. At this stage a good interesting warm up set (like we would have expected from a certain Mr. Tulip) might just have taken our minds off the time and kept us amused. Promoters
Yep that was it. I liked it but mayb cos I haven't heard any prog for ages as by time I usually get to promise it's half half eleven -twelve and bangin which is fine but I wouldn't mind hearing some prog as well!! Someone told me it was opening till four so I was annoyed as well but that was just me being gullable so i haven't shouldn't have been surprised when it finished at, wait for it.... quarter past two ! Smog council is even more anal than Newcastle's!!! Oh well still had wicked time overall tho
while the club is owned by the local *tounge in cheek* mafia, the council will never give it a late license. he even tried to run for mayor he is a total tool and a complete joke. other clubs in the area have no problem whatsoever.
No one in m'bro ever gets a license later than 2! They say its for safety n they dont have the resources but if it was later they wud ave 1000 ppl spilling on to the streets at 2 n therefore less ppl to deal wiv at 1 time! Tall Trees gets some til 3ish but that aint in m'bro
