    Rubbish!!

Vuzz has been around for 3 years. We've been at Mono since Sept I think and with the exception of the Hemstock night and Januarys event every night has been brilliant. The Hemstock night was the bars fault as they didn't give us enough time to promote it. January is, well, January...

Expecting 100 people through the door for GOLDENSCAN is not at all unrealistic. That is my point here. Everyone seems very shocked!

Vuzz, on the whole is a VERY successful night. Look at how many other small trance nights have come and gone but we've stayed the course!

We aren't going anywhere. I don't know what went wrong on Saturday but it makes me question the state of the current scene.

i see trance in Newcastle as :

    Promise
    Vuzz

The other nights are small ones ran for this message board.

on the plus tho paul, everybody in there when i got there apart from the vuzz crew + the people who came with me i had no idea who they were

if deep dish hadnt been on + more of the board trance followers turned up it should + would have been full.

nah i just think you need to be a bit more patient. its only been one night that youve actually complained about. you cant judge anything on the first night thats actually worried you. And as for Vuzz being run for 3 years, yes i know, but most of that time it was at Egypt Cottage on a FRIDAY pre Promise where it was assured to get punters in no matter what promotion you did...as it was all word of mouth or promise board promoted.

The new Vuzz at Mono feels like a total new venture to me, its nice to say vuzz has been going for 3 years but not managed with your current operations at your current venue. Judge it this time next year, not now. Im not, im just expressing my thoughts.

The fact that Vuzz is still going after having 3 or 4 different promoters in 3 years, at one point that was someone so unorganised its untrue (not naming names), shows that it has potential, it has a recognised name and people will keep going.

dont worry about one quet night paul. the chances are it may happen again, but the nights that will be busy in the near future (which will happen) will make you forgot last saturday very quickly. it was just one of those nights.

I dont know what you are all booting off for, If you get this upset after 1 night poor show you might as well give up.

Fizz and BOB are the only people trading any facts here and fizz has hit the nail on the head with the prepromise banter.

I dont know why people get so hung up on numbers tho. Would you not rather have 40 people going mental in a dodgey little dive than 100 people all noddingtheir heads slowly

As i've said many time before when people have been having a go at me on here, judge not now but in the future (in a years time) . I've lost count of the times I've been hammered on here for saying lets see where "Genre", Disco Noir" etc. are in a years time just for pepple to say they are great leave them alone. Whilst both are good, where in terms of club nights are them 2 now???
If VUZZ is good it wil still be here in a coup,ke of years time.

do you really think 3 years is a long time?

I'm not massively worried about Vuzz I'm worried about TRANCE!! :p

On another note gotta say this thread is far more refreshing to read than the usual posts about other nights. The standard "class night" posts bigging up nights when there was only 20 people in!

Some really constructive discussion coming out of this thread.

P.S. Fizz, running the Promise warm-up was not that easy either! For me the move to Mono was a natural part of our growth (and long overdue IMO)...

genre fragmented cos its promoters were in too much of a hurry too fast (the road to fame and fortune leads to the dark side) and one of its team done off to ------with hed kandi to top up his tan.
How TAN UK didnt go out of business in the north east at this point is anyones guess

This is a good point but the night needs to atleast break even for it to be worthwhile...

Never been to vuzz myself but i dont think it has anything to worry about off the back of one night...just concentrate on the next one

Paul,I am thinking your comment about bigging up class nights is a bit below the belt

There are plenty times when I've been in vuzz at the cottage and there's only been about 30 in , then i've come on here on a monday and people have been saying oh it was rammed.

Fizz had a point cos if promise hadnt been on around the corner your night at the cottage would most defo have suffered.

agreed Paul, very constructive. which is why im noly posting in these good debates and discussions. only thing worth reading on this board lately. I do have a life!! lol

Aye i know it wasnt that easy, i was just trying to put it into perspective the difference of work you did then to what you have to do now to promote it.
The EC thing had to end somewhere, i agree, my only quarm would be the choice of day, why not a friday as usual? just one of my thoughts. change of venue yes and definitely growing.

As for TRANCE ;) well, if it is on the demise like you seem to suggest, you best change yer music policy fast!!! ;)

I think we're doing pretty well considering I have never in my life had any desire to put a night on of any kind! Ended up doing this purely because the nameless person, is, as Andy says, a useless fuck up.

It's been a big learning experience and still learning! :)

And for about the third time I'm not worried about Vuzz because we had one quiet night (in fact we had 98 through the door so financially it wasn't that bad), I'm worried about the state of trance in Newcatle if the city's core trance fans aren't arsed about seeing a big name like Goldenscan!

imagine if Lee had stayed in charge!!!

*im not arsed about naming names. :p

JAMBON, I would call a night that regularly packs 200 -250 whenever and wherever it runs a moderate success. Come back when you not logging in as someone else nob jockey.

most of the nights around here pack little more than 50 in

BUT remember its not about the numbers ass hole

Paul make note of the above... not trying to sound like a twat, but i just think all the smaller nights should take note of it, including Twisted etc. Think bout how Shindig built up its following...from 50 people for a long time to what it has now. Follow in their footsteps and you will have gold...problem is, like you said, whats happening to trance.
