He was shit like Rossy. That Queen bootleg and the fucking horrible 'Whoomp There It Is' remix were enough to send me sprinting for the terrace. You'd just had too many lovehearts to care what he was playing...

This was me to someone else agreeing he was shit on the Hardwick board, i think going to Cream when i did last Thur :

I agree mate, just got back last night myself and to say he was shit was an understatement BUT the simple fact is Oakenfold packs a club out - over there anyways.

I didnt go to the Essential Mix cos we'd been to Cream on the Thur anyways and the line up was shite anyways for an Ess Mix.

When i did see him Thur just gone his mixing was fucking appaling, he was playing from about 4:30am/5pm onwards and anyone with a fucking brain would realise when its Cream and its that time it should just be full on banging to fuck trance, what was Oakenfold playing tho ?? Faster Killer Pussycat..

Its got beyond a joke now the way he goes on, i have a Lotherton Hall 99 set where he totall tears the main room apart and know mates who were there and say the same thing - obviously i havent followed him ever as a face DJ so wont know if he could mix but now its total train crash central, i thought at times he was just putting a mic onto some stairs n throwing pianos down then it was that bad, there was no structure at all and then you look and he's going on as if he's having a blinder.

He's hanging off someonthing still to get where he is, like i have said tho to an un-educated crowd which Cream the majority of the time is he packs it out and the place goes wild, he wants to just hang his headphones up now to be fair.

I was there too. Awesome night. I ended up on the top balcony, flailing round like a lunatic as it was the only bit where there was any space to dance.

That Queen track might have been wank but after that he was playing loads of driving Trance that sounded class.

Wow - so many people from the board to see him 8 years ago .... jeez ;)

OK im not sure how many times he played that year but one of the tunes that was played twice that night (ressie and Oakey both) was 'Camisra - Let me show you' ...... strobes and crowd both going nuts at that point - I was standing on the annoyingly sloped dancefloor at that point dancing my feet off :)

..... are we still talking about the same night?

as much as i always seem to agree with you - nail on the head.

me and a mate went to see him on 2 different occasions on the same 'perfecto fluoro' tour in around '96/'97 - he played EXACTLY the same tunes/order/mixes as the CD - we thought he WAS playing the CD and not doing owt else - we both thought the same.

he still rocked - he's like pete tong, he's a legend and knows what tunes to play at the right time... most of the time - some people call it 'anthem bashing' - i just call it giving people what they want - party tunes

I saw him in Feb 98. The only tune I can remember was 'Meet her at the Love Parade'.
