European Golden Boot as well...not just premier league..

Ppl have short memories tho u see Nat.

The fact is Phillips IS a top class striker.

Nothing ANY of you can say will make that any different........you all know its true so why say otherwise?

He WAS a top class striker, but don't rate him any more.

See how he does next season, perhaps was just the ppl around him that prevented him scoring lots of goals...

    (Keepers, defenders, etc etc) ;)

Are you ACTUALLY being serious ere m8??? Do you honestly think that?! omg!

The reason Phillips stopped gettin 30+ a season is that the team he was playing in was nothing more than AVERAGE.

Instead of getting a constant supply which he THRIVES on he was having to come back and do the work of the donkeys around him....

    Surely u can see that?

The ";) " gave nothing away then?

No, he's proved he could do it a few years back, but think the team he was playing in last season was appalling! Was not average at all, it was shite.

The team he was playing in when he won the golden boot was half decent, finished just outside European place. Give him the service and he will score.

Just dunno if he'd be able to reproduce that form again.

The change (if true) will probably do him good. In a decent team, he may prove a lot of critics wrong. I'd say he could be a 20 goals a season striker, in the right team.

thought the ;) was just for very last comment :p

and yeah i VERY much believe given the service he can get at LEAST 20 goals a season without much effort....

hope he does prove all his critics wrong, i really really do!

JUst to add a bit of controversy from a mackem perspective, Phillips has done nowt since he lost Quinn as a regular partner! I do think he is a bloody good player but to the outside world he has done fuck all for 2 years!

At least Sunderland fans are good enough to renew season tickets and show faith and loyalty, aren't we Bri?

thats cos when quinn stopped playing he had no decent service....

anyone with half a brain (not pickin on anyone ere ;)) can see why he was gettin 30+ goals, good service.....and see why he stopped....not good service. it aint difficult to see.

and if that was a sly dig at me (which we both know it was!) ive said all along i aint gettin a season ticket as i miss too many matches to make it worth my while getting.....i'll buy matchday tickets for games i can make.

I agree with the reason why he has stopped scoring, he is a quality poacher but he hasn't been able to do that, I was just giving an objective view of what people probably think!

It wasn't a sly dig at you, it was a blatent dig at you! :D

its the way most ppl think yeah - cos they cant see reality.....narrow minded.

still, he knows he can do it still, thats all that matters.

Not really, the reality is he hasn't done nowt (regardless of the reason) for well over a year. If it wasn't a Sunderland player we would probably think the same because u don't see it week in week out!

I agree that people are wrong, and he will prove that, but I can see why they think the way they do!

p.s. u fancy coming down to York for the pre-season friendly?

nope - sorry - am not accepting it.

he has been stuck in a second rate team with no chance to shine, unfair to judge for that reason.

ppl think the way they do cos ppl in this country LOVE to try and get on famous ppl's cases and drag em down (waits for phillips aint famous garbage to flow  )

    york - when is it?

Has he gone or what then ??

I think he's a quality striker no matter whats happened to him in the last season or so on !

With good service and a bit of confidence he will get the goals - summit which didnt happen last season in the shite of Wonderland !

kevin phillips can not make goals for anyone or himself. he can only score goals if he is given the ball n places where its harder to miss. sunderland havent been doin this ever since big niall stopped playing. therefore making kevin phillips nothing more than an average striker. when hes not scoring he has no positive input on the game
