I found out that my best friend was gay back home! It didn't made a single difference. We still hang out and have fun. It has just made our circle of friends that little more insane!

i have a few friends who are like that. just people ive met along my walk of life. i dont agree with it, although im not homophobic.

if u got suspicions or a problem with someone bout anything, then confront them. that's one of my prime wisdoms. best thing u can do in any kind of problematic situation is be honest.

If i was homophobic would i have worked in a bar for over a year where the boss was gay and associated with him and his "friends" for so long?? Just a few points of interest. (For this purpose gay = lesbians and gay men)

In England and Wales homosexuality was still illegal and punishable by life imprisonment until 1967, and before 1891 by the death penalty. But think - in 1891 life imprisonment meant ashort life in deed. Scotland and Northern Ireland have diferent laws. Recent changes to the Sexual Offences Act have at last started to see gays given similar treatment to heterosexuals.

Whatever the law says, and wherever you live gay people still get beaten up, bullied, mistreated, even murdered and often in circumstances more horrendous than you could comprehend.

Kids still get kicked out by their parents, dumped by their mates and sacked from their jobs with no protection in employment law.

With all this to cope with the last thing anyone needs is someone taking the piss.

Straight blokes who take the piss out of gay lads or eachother only serve to perpetuate the cycle of shit everyone has to deal and make it harder to form meaningful friendships with people of the same sex.

I wasn't takin the mick, I was givin a bit of advice to Shea- simply that if you have a problem with someone then the best thing to do is talk to them about it, or say nothing. instead of broadcasting it on the Internet cos if that person realises that he/she is (see, I was paying attention: gay = men and women) being spoken about then they'd probs be v. offended.

I wasn't bein homophobic in sayin I disagreed with homosexuality. Anal sex is not my cup of tea whether with man, woman or beast and that I wouldn't like to have a man put their lips to mine. if that makes me homophobic then i guess thats what i am. but not to the extent that some people are. in the same way that many people on this board think it's mingin, so do i. but i dont bully people for it. there are far more important things to do than that! and far more important things to do than sit at a computer screen at this time of night with work looming ever closer.
