Derren Brown - wegie board

tell me about it not a good thing to watch before u got to sleep!

Being the Man of Science*... here's how it's done (it was well done - but it was all mathematics)

When he had all the photos on the screen, there were 3 rows. The middle row only had 1 colour photo on, Jane's. Through his instructions (move up or down, left and right) he did it 3 times - u were always going to be on the middle row. His last instruction was, move to the colour photo - so it was always going to be Jane. From then onwards, he knew all the info about her (cause it was all made up!) so he used his powers of persuasion to lead the students to where he wanted them to go.

Not his best trick - but if i were there i'd have probably messed myself during the 'seance' with the cup that jumped and the bell ringing then floating off the table. i was watching alone - and i'd turned the lights out... i'm easily swayed.

note that we never saw ball 'fy' ...only the shadow accross the table..

also, just an observation, but do you get 'shadows' looking through night vision cameras / goggles?

each camera has it's own light source - be it infra red or not - so we would have got shadows. obviously one of the students must have done it (but they don't remember it like the previous curtain trick)

... still i was sat alone holding my own hand and crapping it.

I thought they never broke the circle.

so you THINK - but u never saw. and they were probably fooled that they hadn't - like the lass never threw the tray....

The pic of Jane was the only pic with a welcoming colour background and she was the only one with a nice welcoming smile that drew you toward it. It was obvious it was her without the instructions. I thought it was obvious she was alive too. She didn't look like she lived in the 70s and the professionally done home video at the end was a total giveaway, but hey, it was supposed to be a giveaway, Derren was just showing everyone how easy it is for the majority of people to be influenced. I personally think he's fantastic! Best tv we've had!

just thought of course it does.. all light reflects + refacts..

so they broke hands- does that mean they where all reduced to a sub-conscious state before the seance? that is if any of it was 'real' anyway?

another thing i read yesterday said that brown wasn't actually intended for the show and that it was written by someone else for that person, but the original guy wanted to make it as a serious actor and not follow a 'magic' route so he 'gave' the show to derren.. from the digitalspy message board...

Even when they all jumped at the end (when Jane drew her energy back), that was just Derren bringing them out of their hypnotic state.

Fair enough, what about the paper with the guy that was tied up??? Trick ??

i totally fell for it all!....
bet the students and the ppl who phoned in feel like rite idiots now...i kno i do now for beliveing it all!!
they thing that stil gets me is that they were all really genuinally scared!

it should have shown the students when jane walked into the room....wudda been quality.

my mate was doing the board @ home and said the glass went towards J and then stopped and didnt go any further

no more letters

it was fucken top TV tho
the bit when the bird was "taken" and was there rocking backwards and forwards speaking like a kid was a bit freaky

PMSL @ people ringing up saying there wardrobes and stuff were moving about

most likely......but can all of the students be hyponotised into the same state tho?...
