Indeed, I can't quite believe it myself either...

On topic, while not being in favour of the Tories; I think it was the right descision, I have wanted him to get the job since the start, I don't know THAT much about him but I like his realist attitude and hopefully will bring a fresh, new side to the conservative party.

If he puts in to practice all the stuff he has been going on about then it could be a very welcome change for the Tories and they could certainly appeal to a far wider audience.

We shall see given time I guess, but I get the impression he will do good things for the party and he certainly doesn't come accross as the typical Tory.

The wheels are falling off 'New Labour' very quickly.

I think its now quite clear just what the country has bought into over the past 8 years

    - Hyper inflation of the housing market meaning nobody can buy a house at a decent price any more
    - Wars we dont want being slyly 'sold' to us with lies and spin
    - Massive increases in personal debt.
    - Jobs created by the government using borrowed money that now has to be paid back
    - A prime minister who was supposed to be a change from the tories and ended up going back on most of his promises
    - Lies, spin, corruption
    - Worsening social conditions and an increase in violent crime
    - Worsening social fabric and an increase of 'chavs'
    - 4 million people claiming 'incapacity benefit'

.... I think its time for a change again - The conservatives are the only party who seem to be gearing up for that.

Labour governments seem to have a habit of overspending - borrowing money and pumping them into loss making enterprises where productivity drops but costs increase....

.... then conservative governments inherit a massive mess to clear up first.

Case in point - hospital spending has shot up but productivity continues to drop and has done for the entire duration since labour was in power.

Throwing more and more public money at the countries problems HASNT improved things.

There was a good graph in the times a few days ago showing productivity since 1997 - was on permanent decline since then.

With an ageing population and no population growth in place to cover the costs of healthcare and pensions for these people - yeah we are heading for a crisis.

Unfortunately if the government (not just labour) keep encouraging people NOT to have children, start families and work as a family unit .... the future looks grim.

BUT this thread is actually quite an important issue and nobody seems to care

Oh by the way 'just because you would rather think about your nether regions in a CD rom ' really doesnt make any sense

If you want to talk about hollyoaks, a politics thread isnt really the place :p

Being a citizen of your country is something you arent interested in?

Dont worry - when you start seeing how much tax and national insurance you pay each month .... THEN you might care ;)
