    not - it was the real deal between Bret and Vince. There was a film crew following bret at the time it all happened :

    Basically WWF paid him loads to stay when WCW offered him a contract, then they said they couldn't afford him and he should look elsewhere. at his last PPV he was going to win over shawn michaels then drop the belt the next night at a house show - but vince and shawn thought he wouldn't 'do the job' so at the end of the PPV match, the referee did a quick count. if u watch the survivor series '97 video/dvd u can see what goes down b4 it ends. afterwards, backstage, he knocks out vince and broke his jaw. u should read bret's website - he gives his view on the whole thing. If u listen to some PPV's and tv shows of wrestling - whenever they're in canada or earl hebner (the ref) comes on, they all chant "you screwed bret" and have done for years...

    i know far too much about this...

    That's good goss! Didn't know that. WWF isn't what it used to be (old man talk). Nothing like it was in the 90's. Even up to the D-Generation X days.

    I think WWF got really cool the day the Rockers split and Michaels kicked Janetti through the barbershop window. Turning point in WWF history.
