Vista & Network problems. Hallo. right, i've recently had to reset my router because of a rather silly attempt by my dad to introduce higher security. anyways - i've had to fanny on getting it all working again, however i can't get the connection identified through Vista, however it's working perfectly fine through W7. also its not letting me open up the network and sharing centre AT ALL, point blank does nothing. any help regarding why it wouldent open would be cool Cheers
the lower end versions of vista arent really made for networking, we had vista home premium on a few machines at work and it just didnt like being added to a network , the higher end vista's like ultimate etc arent as much as a fuck on tho , same with W7 !!!
here's what i've done in the past as Vista is a bit flakey with network stuff. Take out the patch lead. Go to Device Manager, delete the network card. Reboot. let it re-install the card, once it's done. Plug patch lead back in.
ignore the bits about patch lead, i'm guessing it's wireless. Still, same idea applies - delete the wireless card/all cards from device manager and the 'network and sharing' stuff should disapear from the menus.
havent even tried to sort this out yet. i've basically moved to W7 since it's all working properly. am starting to think that completely getting rid of Vista might be a good idea. ideas?
all well and good for a year till the RC runs out. then you're gambling on a hack coming out for the RC OR a newer dodgy version of W7 that will install over the top. i think W7 is stable enough - more than vista anyways
yeah i've got legit copies of Vista and XP pro as well, however i'd rather take a step forward rather than a step back. I never want to see vista ever again, it's fucking shambles. installed Traktor/ableton + controllers etc and they're all working alot better with this OS than vista anyway, pretty much no latency and everything loads alot quicker. still its a bit of gamble if i install W7 reet over the top of vista, i've heard its a right fuck on to sort out.
