Threat to earth from a solar flare

Apprently in the late 1800's a large solar flare hit the earth. Telecoms was just in its infancy but the entire system was took down and frazzled.

We are overdue another one now, imagine if the whole of the worlds electronics was took out in one go. the internet, tv, phones, satalights the works.

It could take a decade to come back.
