Agreed. Even the DEC has wound down their appeal now.

    I agree 100%.

I also think that some clubs (not talking about the Hardwick night, but another night at Foundation springs to mind!) do a charity night to get some extra press. Right or wrong?

    I also agree.
The Hardwick night was being arranged ages before anyway, the charity donation was just an extra idea which gave the progress a kick up the arse.

A DJ pal of mine (god I sound like Tribal) had a bucket collection in the club he worked in soon after the disaster. the club isn't in a city centre and is in quiet a ruff area. he was knocked back when he took about a grand in a few hours...with some "charvs" sticking twenties in.

I was amazing by the generosity and suggested he let the local paper know about this, just as a thank you and to get some recognition to the generous people who helped out......

The boss of the club refused to let him do this in case it looked like it was an attempt at publicity.

I found this a little sad.

    True .. true ..
You can give too much ... i think weve gave enough and now its back to doing things in this country although i dont hold it against anyone who gives to the appeal.:D

there's so much raised now - they need to look at long term investment to keep the regeneration going - just chucking mountains of money at it will only bring out the greed in the bad elements of society - i.e. the orphan trafficing trade for compensation

it's going to take a few generations to rebuild some of the ecconomies

Only last week I said we need to help Cumbria out. The streets in Carlisle are full of wet sofa's + fooked fridges, its like Hendon on a really rainy day across there atm.
