Shearer Does Not regret Signing 4 Toon

    From the Chronicle :king:

When I ask him if he ever dreams of the medals he would have picked up with Manchester United instead of those he has failed to get at Newcastle United, he knocks the question straight back over my head.

Shearer famously turned his back on Sir Alex Ferguson to sign for his home-town club in the summer of 1996 for a world record £15m and since then, as Newcastle have failed to gather up any trophy larger than the Northumberland Senior Cup, Man U have secured five championships, the European Cup and two FA Cups.

"Regrets?" he laughed. "Naw, not a solitary one about not going to Old Trafford. How can I have any regrets when for nearly nine years I've been a local lad who has captained his home-town team, worn the legendary No 9 shirt and played in front of 50,000 folk who adore me. That means more than anything else to a Geordie. I've made my reputation with my own folk.

"Of course, I've wanted to win something for them, been desperate to - but it isn't all over yet. We're still in two cup competitions."

When Shearer sensationally signed for Newcastle they were on the very threshold of the ultimate achievement, of course. They had just finished second in the Premier League under the charismatic Kevin Keegan, but significantly as it turned out, had blown a 12-point lead to gift Manchester United the championship. Never again have the club been so close to the title last won by Hughie Gallacher and his comrades in far-off 1927.

United finished second again in Shearer's first season, without ever challenging for the crown, and third and fourth since but they have teased and tantalised rather than produced.

However, Alan insisted: "I never look backwards. You cannot change the past, only the present and the future. We've been close but we need to be closer. The fans deserve that after all this time. They are the very best who haven't had the best. We have to think that'll change. We must believe."

If you believe that you will believe anything.

The only medal Shearers got is a championship medal for Blackburn, all the goals he has scored he deserves to have a bucket full of medals and to play for the best club in the word. But no he went to Newcastle, a team who talks the talk but fails to walk the walk. Shearers played under 4 managers whilst at Newcastle and won nothing, the club he so loves has let him down and i bet it does his head in!

Harper dont judge Alan by the spineless wankers who wanted out of Sunderland like Phillips,Tommy S, Gav Mc.

Maybe Alan is fan of his Toon like you are of Sunderland, you should support Chelsea if you fail to see why Alan is happy trying his best to win something for the Toon & getting paid bucks for doing so which is bonus.

We will never know the answer to that will we, because Alan has played a leading role in making sure we were no longer yo-yoing around

Phillips had wanted a BIG move for a while & he got when he left SOL for St Marys.

he may not have won anything here but he has become an absolute legend, the level of which could not be matched anywhere else but his home town club.

at the end of the say Shearer will look back in his trophy cabinet and only see one trophy. Shearer could of ended his career at Newcastle after winning loads of trophys at Man Utd then he would of been a very happy chappy.:D

    BUT!

HES WON NOTHING WITH HIS BELOVED NEWCASTLE, ITS HIS LAST SEASON, HES GOT MORE MANAGERS THE SACK THAN ANY PLAYER IN HISTORY. HIS LOVE FOR HIS HOMETOWN CLUB HAS MEANT HIS CAREER HAS BEEN NOWHERE NEAR AS SUCESSFUL AS IT SHOULD OF AND DESERVED TO BE.

Alan is one us & your opinon counts for shit anyway because your Sunderland fan so your views are going to be different. Best local lad to play for Sunderland in the last 10 years was Mick Greh (HOW FOOKING WRONG IS THAT MAN) & even he turned up in his new motor to sneer at people collecting there P45's at SOL during your last PREMIERSHIP Passionless season.

But then you rate Brown so what do you know about football, stick to posting about getting BROWN/BLACK people out of the UK:p

Shearer my boy, soon you will realize all those goals were for nothing. You should of joined Man Utd, there you would of won trophys galore, played with superstars, Europe every year and made the most of your god given talents! Instead of playing for idiots who idolize u, have endless amounts of managers. a empty trophy cabinet and internal problems galore.

soon you will realize my boy!

TBH I support Newcastle United not Alan Shearer or any footballer really. So for me Alan has been great signing we have not got relegated been to a few finals & had some of our best runs in Europe ever.

Shame Kevin Phillips couldnt get Sunderland in Europe:lol:   7th no matter how good you think it was it was never good enuff. Even Kevins worthless goals were not good enuff to keep Blunderland up & in fact his goals couldnt even make Sunderland finish 19th. UNLUCKY BOYZ MUST TRY HARDER!!!!

Phillips is not a makem! he never grew up in Sunderland, his heart wasnt in it, Niall Quinn was the main reason he played well at Sunderland.

Shearers love for Newcastle has meant his career has never reached its potential and i bet that piss's him off sumit rotten.

wot a shame Shearer! oh wot a shame!
