    Robert to Bolton?

ROBERT SET FOR BOLTON - AGENT
Bolton look set to pip Manchester City, Portsmouth and Rangers in the race to sign Newcastle winger Laurent Robert.

The Frenchman had always been expected to leave St James' Park after failing to see eye-to-eye with manager Graeme Souness and his availability had alerted a host of clubs north and south of the border.

But according to his agent Willie Mackay, Robert has opted to head to the Reebok Stadium, where he will link up again with former Paris St-Germain team-mate Jay-Jay Okocha.

Mackay told Sky Sports: "Laurent is set to sign for Bolton on Monday. He is due to put pen-to-paper on a three-year deal and he is on the same deal he was on at Newcastle.

"Sam Allardyce has always been an admirer of Laurent and wants to reunite him with Jay-Jay Okocha after their time together at Paris Saint Germain."

Robert is the latest player to fall out with Souness after making it clear that he couldn't continue working under the fiery Scot.

Could be a decent signing for them

A nice £9.5m down the drain for the Magpies too.

Bit of a strange one. Doesnt seem like he would fit in at Bolton, but we certainly dont want him anyway.

Would Allardyce put up with his poor work rate?

He must think he can change him into some hard working midfielder with a magic left foot, but I think Big Sam has met his match with Robert. No doubt he'll do us next season with a couple of majestic free kicks. I wanted him to go abroad! :( Just hope we get at least 2 Mil for him!
