Robbie Savage Whats going on here? Why dosnt Sav come out and say if he wants to move or not? Surely he dosnt want to go to Blackburn?!!? IM CONFUSED :spangled:
I like Robbie Savage, think hes actually a good premiership player, granted hes not a big name, but for any team outside the top 6 he's a player id love to have in my team! Think he's much better off at Birmingham tho, hes got probably a better side around him and better manager, and him and David Dunn are a good center midfield partenership.
If I was in a relegation dog fight Sav is the first player id want in my team. Every team needs a pit bull in MF
If he wanted to be close to his family & "its not about money" then Wrexham is the team he should be trying to join.
SAVAGE MOVE WOULD MAKE LITTLE SENSE By Frank Malley, PA Chief Sports Writer So Robbie Savage wants to leave Birmingham to "spend more time with his family". Now where have we heard that before? For one, from former cabinet minister Alan Milburn, who quit the Government citing undying devotion to his family, only to scuttle back to Westminster less than 12 months later. For another, Harry Redknapp, whose initial reason for his hasty departure from Portsmouth was to spend more time with his wife - so much so that he all but abandoned her at the airport two weeks later, scrapping a family sunshine holiday to take a job at Southampton he had promised the Pompey fans would never happen. So routinely knee-jerk has become the "family" euphemism that the moment a man in the public eye cites it, it's time to smell a rodent. Forgive me if that sounds cynical at a time which is supposed to be abounding in goodwill, but Savage's reasons just don't stack up. The Birmingham midfielder says he wants a transfer, preferably to Blackburn, to be closer to his ailing parents and his wife's parents in Wrexham. According to the AA, the respective distances to Wrexham are as follows: (a) Birmingham 73.8 miles or 1hr 42 mins. (b) Blackburn 75.8 miles or 1hr 23 mins. You don't need a degree in advanced calculus to work out that by joining Blackburn, who tabled a £2.2million offer last week, Savage would travel two miles further, albeit with a potential time-saving of just 19 minutes. Now I can think of a few reasons for wanting to leave Birmingham. Spaghetti junction, an underworld gun culture, industrial pollution, the accent, Jasper Carrott. We could go on. But to save a possible 19 minutes on a trip back to the extended family home does seem a shade trivial. Yet Savage insists: "You couldn't ask for a better bunch of boys to play with than at Birmingham, but this is not about money. Whether I am at Birmingham, Wrexham or wherever. I just want to be close to my family." Which begs the question why Savage, just four months after signing a four-year deal, has not put in a formal request for a transfer? Until he sits down and writes that request people will make up their own minds about a player whose commitment on the pitch, to be fair, has never been in doubt for whoever he has represented.
Hardlly worth it. 19 mins saved? :spangled: And to end up at a shitter team. Bizarre. Tbh the nearest Prem teams to Wrexham would be Liverpool or Everton. Werent Everton interested in the summer?
