A PENSIONER has been arrested after allegedly attacking a man with a hot drink.A 66-year-old who’d been in a County Durham pub sustained a fractured skull following the incident at 10.30am on August 6.Durham Police were called to the Weatherspoons pub in Victoria Road, Consett, after reports a man from the Consett area had suffered a serious head injury.With a deep wound to his head he was taken by ambulance to the University Hospital of North Durham where he has received treatment for a fractured skull.His injury is not life-threatening and he has been described by police as being in a “stable“ condition.Detective Inspector Lyn Peart said it was believed the victim had been hit on the head with a mug and sustained burns from a hot drink.A 72-year-old man from the Consett area has been arrested on suspicion of wounding and bailed pending further enquiries.
