Northern Soul!!!!! Oh my god, finally got to my first northern soul night and I can hand on heart say I've found my calling It was like stepping back in time, Madam Jo Jo's was like some small 70's working mens club, minging red carpets with a lowered dancefloor.... The atmosphere was like nothing I'd experienced 150 amazing dancers (mixture of wiggling, breaking and all out coolness), clothing - well they all looked like me The best club I've ever been to I'm going back down in about 3 weeks if any1 fancies it
my m8's dad is an A-list northern soul DJ. he play all over the country and sometimes abroad he's played the empire in boro he has over £25 000 of records he says we don't know how to have a good party looks like he may be right
mine and mozzas folks go to northern soul nites all the time...puts the fear of dread into me to think wot might go on at their after parties!
I went to a Northern Soul night at Leeds Uni last Sat, like i'd walked straight into Quadrophenia. I've never seen so many fights in one place, where talkin hugs scraps here. The place was packed, playin all sort from Indi to later day classics, couple of Beach Boys ones thrown in for good measure, have to say the tracks all went well together. You should have seen the DJ?...she was this real big momma, kind of Fred Flintstone in a blond wig - but I thought she was the business lovin her attitude - Joe was she on at the night you went to? But like yeah, it was kickin off all night - one ruck on the dance floor lasted for ages - the whole floor was swayin from left to right in the chaos! I blame it on the haircuts
