it's a shame like, but people are so shocked just cause it's a UK citizen.

He choose to work in Baghdad, they choose to live outside the recommended area without security. U take the risks and take the money - u gotta atleast expect something to happen

Couldnt agree more. A lot of people go there for the £££'s & $$$'s & should remember the reason they are getting the big bucks is because they are working in a WAR ZONE!

agreed- this guy (and the Americans) knew the risk - admittedly they were doing something to help Iraq by offering their expertise to help rebuild it....a few points:

I'm constantly amazed by the lack of understanding of Arab cultures by Westerners - especially the Yanks. Iraq is a tribal society - not a democracy.

The US and UK forces are essentially occupying forces - after toppling Saddam they should have left - - it is understandable that there will be resistance. Wouldn't you try and rebel if you were occupied? (and if you had the balls) - admittedly it's only small pockets of resistance - the majority of Iraqis want peace and independence.

Why go to Iraq? It's extremely dangerous - Ken Bigley's family keep going on about the faact that he is a really nice, gentle guy....this will not help him. His captors are maniacs who are hiding behind a warped view of Islam to justify murder - the basic fact is they just enjoy killing people - nice, safe fluffy things like family values, kindness etc. don't mean shit to fanatics.

I'll admit to feeling terrible for this guy - knowing a horrific fate awaits him...but he knew the risks.

I think they will continue capturing and killing hostages even if those female prisoners are released

Delta Force is like a yank version of the SAS - except they're rubbish and completely gung-ho, whereas our lads are the bollocks!

    New Hope For British Hostage
Iraqi judges have ordered the conditional release of two female Iraqi prisoners - a move that could save the life of British hostage Ken Bigley. The country's national security adviser, Kassim Daoud, told a news conference that biological weapons scientist Rihab Taha and Huda Amash - dubbed Dr Germ and Chemical Sally - would be released within a few days.

He said they were no longer a security risk.

Insurgents holding Mr Bigley are demanding the release of all female prisoners from Iraq jails.

It is not known whether the decision by the judges will be enough to stop militants beheading Mr Bigley. The US embassy in Baghdad earlier ruled out the immediate release of the women and confusion remains as to exactly when - and if - the pair will be freed
