it won't stop. if we show any weakness - every tiny minority group who want a bit of acknowledgment will be doing it - anyone will be a target - white = western = the U.S.

She's actually an iraq resident - been there for 30 years.

With any luck there wont be a total media circus like there was with poor Ken B, who if anything... are fuelling the fire.

Did anyone see the Bigley video .... yuck :(

doesn't seem to matter that she was a resident for 30 odd years, she's white.

    Re: Re: Its happened again

i can see what happened with ken bigley happening time and time again, demand money or kill them, if get the money they let them go then every group on earth starts kidnapping for ransoms (sp), if they dont get the money they kill them, either way its a loose situation

It is totally beyond me why anyone would actually choose to watch the videos (or download it, or whatever).

Back to the original point though, this will keep on happening as long as either demands are met or media coverage is gained. The captors are hoping that if there is enough media coverage, eventually the US, UK and whoever else will be pressured enough by their own electorate to pull out of the country.

As much as its sick and twisted to watch the video - The whole 'i cant believe you watched that video' is indicative of our gradual spiral into a nation of bovine automotons who can be made to do anything as long as we have the gentle push of tabloid newspaper headlines, lorraine kelly on GMTV and easy to digest and dumbed down television programs.

Its almost taboo to watch the Bigley video which is about seeing what happens in the real world, almost to the point where people think your on some kind of sick level with the people who killed him...

Information is power, no matter how sick it is.... People need to see this stuff first hand over and over and over again until it sinks in that we as western nations are running this world into the ground.

War is faught in the media like a video game these days, stylised violence, an absence of truly grusome thought provoking content and just enough hype and pizazz to make it second on the list of conversational topics right after one about david beckhams right lug ear ring and how it differs from the one he wore last week. If the video of Ken Bigley getting his head lopped off was put in place of neighbours or east enders, we might have the nation demanding change and progression,.... as opposed to a few tuts and 'shame about that bigley guy'...

saw the american one before bigley nd to be fair its fuckin discrageful. bigleys wasnt half as bad as the other one.

as for all of this kidnapping malarky, i rekon that it is up 2 the british citizens wether or not the leave the country to go to iraq.
they must obviously know the possible dangers and risks which are present out there.
if people started thinking more, shit like this wudnt happen.
its sad aye, the only way its goin to stop tho is if the armed forces catch the group whos been doin this or for british citizens to stop travelling to iraq.

I think Purvy is right, I wouldn't travel to Iraq for any amount of money.

a charity worker tho? hardly someone chasing riches like the americans or even bigley might have been

obviously non of us kno how much of this is real yet but if she is a charity worker trying to better the lives of people in iraq it does give her a decent reason for being there, saying that though theres no way on earth would i go anywhere near the middle east no matter what i was getting in return!!

world is defs becoming a more and more isolated place
