It's been a tough day.... Think I may have a few beers by myself reflecting a bad day. People who I sit near me have been given the bullet. I have had to organise a meeting for 14 temps to attend in Warrington on Tuesday where they will be put at risk of reduncy & in 4 weeks time some will be actually be put on reduncy notice. I think about 6 will be given the heave ho & I have gave my opinions on who it should be & , I laugh because some of them I didn't like but am sad because some have to go because it make geographical sense to keep other people instead of them. The only highlight of the day was I was refered to as "CORE STAFF" & told when I go they will be swithing the lights off....

I'm glad my profession is recession proof. People always want to sue each other regardless of how well business is doing. Redundancy is never nice though, my father was taken to court by 400 workers once who claimed they had been unfairly made redundant. Always an emotive issue.

I had to re-apply for my job 3 years back and came out OK, but recently I found out the whole thing was a conspiracy to get rid of 2 managers. They were shit at their job, but that's not the point - they should have been managed better so that they improved, not just sack them. A year later they were replaced - how crap is that? And now we are expecting to have to re-apply again because of a 'management restructure.' I'm leaving anyway as we're moving out of the area - it'd be nice if I could take voluntary redundancy at the same time
I was under the threat of redundancy 4 times in 7 years at the last factory i worked at and finally got the bullit last march ! In the 7 years i was there the factory had 2 buy outs , the latter being a big con , the bigger mother company in america was under finacial difficulty then all of a sudded our factory went bust to be bought out by managment , wot we didnt know was that the mother company had put a big chunk of the money up and was therefore still a major shareholder ! So with government grants , managment money and secret money from america we plodded on , after 2 major pay offs in that time mind ! So this continued for 2 years ( the time told we had to run for to avoid haveing to pay government grant muny back ) and all of a sudden went bust AGAIN , this time i was paid off even tho i was one of the more senior skilled operators ! In the time of recievership lots of people were paid off but it was a complete joke , skills did not take part in the who got kept on role it was more of a lottery tbh !! Then ANOTHER management buy out with different managers buying it out with ANOTHER government grant ( also recently found out one of the managers that went bust last time still has a major role their and is still a major stake holder ) I now have a much better job working in an office as an ict tech on a bit of a better wage than i was on at the factory but now working sensible hours/shifts !! I give the factory till next march , as thats probs when the times up to avoid having to pay the government back again !!!
Oh also they let us work right till the end of the month b4 anouncing redundancys AND the fact that they could not pay us that months wages !! I feel more sorry for the people that got kept on tbh as they had to continue to work with no wages untill they got back on their feet to pay the wages , and us who got paid off got our wages from the pay off month the following month of the government ! The people who got kept on got it 6 months later in 2 halves !!
