Heskey Called Into England Squad !

    Heskey gets England recall

Emile Heskey has received a surprise England recall as he was chosen ahead of Alan Smith in the squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Northern Ireland and Azerbaijan.

Heskey has not featured in an England squad since he withdrew due to injury ahead of the friendly against Ukraine at St James' Park in August.

However, following an excellent display for Birmingham against Aston Villa on Sunday, the 27-year-old was chosen ahead of Smith, who has not been playing regularly for Manchester United, and Darius Vassell.

England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson, who omitted Nicky Butt and Matthew Upson, gave Andrew Johnson another chance to prove himself, but has a fitness concern over the Crystal Palace striker, who has a foot injury.

The 24-man England squad to face Northern Ireland and Azerbaijan in World Cup qualifiers is:

Paul Robinson (Tottenham), David James (Manchester City), Robert Green (Norwich); Gary Neville (Man Utd), Ashley Cole (Arsenal), Phil Neville (Man Utd), Jamie Carragher (Liverpool), Rio Ferdinand (Man Utd), John Terry (Chelsea), Wes Brown (Manchester United), Ledley King (Tottenham); David Beckham (Real Madrid), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), Owen Hargreaves (Bayern Munich), Jermaine Jenas (Newcastle), Joe Cole (Chelsea), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Stewart Downing (Middlesbrough), Kieron Dyer (Newcastle); Michael Owen (Real Madrid), Jermain Defoe (Tottenham), Wayne Rooney (Man Utd), Andrew Johnson (Crystal Palace), Emile Heskey (Birmingham).

    FOOKING HESKEY !!!!!

One good game and hes good enogh for England, this Swedish knob jocky has got to go !

Heskey plays for one of the most inconsistant teams in the prem, has a total shite goal scoring recordand doesnt play european football. Wot use is he going to be?????

no way, hes had his chance thought we had got rid of him from the international scene once and for all.

yeah never seen him do anything decent for England, seen him play well for Bayern though.

Sven needs to be shown the door, he has already had two major championships and failed to get anywhere in any of them we need a change cos we have got the quality to do well.

Out in the sticks cool as fukk gang! :)
i agree. comfortable on either foot, very useful utility player. i feel if he could reproduce his bayern performances he would get far more games, i know i would defo have him in my side.

and while he may not have dazzled, i do feel his performances have been reasonable, and i would say i've seen him look pretty good for us when he has been able to get a proper central defensive midfield place.

Just hearing that man speak bores me.

I was astonished to see him gloating about getting beat 1-0 off Sporting & getting knocked out of the competition last week.

as were 30'000 boro fans mate. the feeling amongst most is that he was saved by winning the carling cup as he would probably of gone at the end of last season otherwise. he thinks he is a tactician of the same class as fergie, he is quite clearly not. if we finish below 10th there will be alot of presure for him to go,

He seem to set his teams up to not lose rather than win. It was the Boro fans that forced him to play Downing.

Not an England fan but would like to comment. Heskey is not on International standard.. he scores of his shin, his knee, everything but his feet!

Can't see him getting a game... but Sven... what is he doing... teh sooner he is got rid of.. the better for England.

As long as scores that all I am bothered about ,a two yard tap in off the knee has the same value as beating 5 men then shooting a scoreing from 40 yards out

First time for everything isn't it! You can't seriously think heskey is worthy of an England international space???

owen, defoe, rooney, andy johnson even.. all better than heskey!
