Fucking Finally.... Potters pocket Shola Having been pulled out of Newcastle's reserve team game on Thursday, Shola Ameobi headed for the Potteries to link up with Stoke City on loan for the rest of the season. And after passing a medical at the Britannia Stadium, the striker completed the formalities of the move on what was the final day of the season for Championship loan deals. Ameobi goes straight into the Stoke squad for Saturday's game at Sheffield Wednesday - having scored for us on his last visit to Hillsborough (pre-season in August 2003). It's understood that a loan fee of around £500K has been agreed and that a possible permanent transfer has been discussed subject to Stoke winning promotion. The Potters are hoping to secure their first return to the top flight since being relegated from the old First Division in 1985 and currently head the table with six games left. One former colleague of Shola's is already at the Britannia Stadium in the shape of defender Andy Griffin. Ameobi had also been recently linked with promotion hopefuls Ipswich Town, Norwich City and Plymouth Argyle. The 26 year-old is out of contract at SJP in 2009 and after being absent from the first team since September's League Cup loss at Arsenal, he played the full ninety minutes of Keegan's first game against Bolton. His only involvement since that date, however, has been a brief sub appearance at the Emirates in late January and he wasn't named in our squad for either of the FA Cup ties against Stoke earlier this year. What may turn out to be Shola's final sighting in a Toon shirt came just over a week ago, when he scored in the final moments of the game for the reserves away to Bolton. Now thats worth me getting a bollocking for at work and i hope the fkn hopeless bastard gets a hat-trick on his debut and bags a whole lot more and falls in love with the area to stay there.....
