Sky's retention is shit as unlike Virgin they know that they have the best of everything.

Im considering taking out insurance on my HD box, it's well out of warranty and every now and again wont turn on. Have to remove the power socket, then plug it back in, leave it a few seconds to hear the motor start then leave it in standby for a minute or so before turning it on.

That insurance is a load of bollocks. If your equipment breaks OOW then call them up and just complain and moan and they'll send an engineer round to replace it. If you're good enough at being a cunt on the phone then it won't cost much and certainly beats paying for insurance that isn't worth shit!

We have what you said, Virgin phone and 50mb BB and Sky HD full package. I was just meaning Sky's retentions on TV, specially if your complaining about a HD Box, your not exactly going to drop everything and go to V+hd

Sky and its customer service is shite! FACT!

I would much rather go with Virgin, you get good customer service, never on hold longer than 5 minutes, they ring ou straight back if you are on your mobile and always do decent deals for their existing customers.

Every few month I ring up and ask if they can do me a better deal and they always reduce my monthly payments without reducing the services we get!

The BB is much better, we pay for 20meg and actually get 20meg, unlike sky where you probably get half of what you pay for depending on where you live!

And Virgin on demand is brilliant!

Plus on the V+ box you can record 2 programmes and watch another and isn't the V+ HD box even better?

No cable in my area unfortunately :(

... i quite fancy sky, but the thoughts of paying 50 quid a month for the 'pleasure' of only watching 30-60 minutes of TV at best during the week, put me right off.

Still..... the thought of saturday and sunday miami ink and american chopper marathons while on a massive comedown get me proper wet and excited.

    Depends whats most important :

Broadband/Phone : VM (BB on VM pisses on any ADSL service even the new BT '20mb' service. Yeah, fibre optic to the cabs but STILL copper wire the last 3 miles!) i downloaded 40GB in 1 day last week (PS3 rips ;) on my 'M' bb package )

    TV : Sky.

I have V+ HD - the new samsung boxes are spot on, much quicker, iplayer/itvplayer/4OD/on demand stuff is great, much bigger improvement and defo catching the Sky+ HD in terms of functionallity. Sky has more channels and more HD ones (but they are coming to VM soon, Sky1 HD just gone live) but much MUCH more expensive. VM HD channels are free with whatever package u have. However sky keep doing their "half price 12 month" deals which are good, if u can get the codes.

12 months. It would cost £50 a month if you took all 6 entertainment packs (Knowledge, Variety, Childrens, Music, Style & Culture, News & Events)+ movies.
