DJ Competition at The Empress - Newcastle upon Tyne Been sent this via Facebook: The Empress has teamed up with Smirnoff Vodka to host the 'Mixing It Up' DJ Competition ©. We are looking for the best up and coming DJs the North-East has to offer. If you or one of your mates is into house music and has spent the last few years hiding in their bedroom studio then this is a great opportunity to get to play out to a crowd at the newest bar on the Diamond Strip. The competition will be hosted at The Empress on Wednesday 12th August and starts at 7pm, and don't forget to bring your friends along for support. Each DJ will be judged in 3 main categories: Music Choice, Crowd Reaction, and Technical Ability. The winner of the competition will receive a cash prize plus a prime slot on Bank Holiday Sunday (30th August) at The Empress prior to attending Made in Sweden presents Steve Angello at Digital. Double Smirnoff and Mixer only £2.50 all night. Contact Matthew Settle via Facebook or email me at matthew@clubbeatitude.com to register. http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=103778068590
it's the self appointed name for the bars on westgate road: florita's (formerly apartment), baby lynch, perdu, etc....
Apparently this is going on again tonight. Chance to play at MoS and Pacha Madrid + tour with 'Movida Coronoa'. https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=216298891756397 "Laptops Are Banned So You Must Be Fully Competent On Either A Pair Of Pioneer CDJ1000 MK3's or Technics SL1210's." Going to be a boring night of trainwrecks, then.
What a joke. You've banned memory sticks to stop re-edits, but whats to stop someone re-editing something in ableton and then burning it to CD? I see the same gag about bringing your mates is in there as well...
or warping everything to 130, 135 etc etc and just using the cdj pitch without ever really needing to beatmatch by ear. this dumb idea of dj purity doesn't fly these days - unless of course you are at cocoon and having the same convo with villalobos or sven vath.
