I was always under the impression, and have even heard police say that "you cant prove who sent a text message, just because it comes from a persons phone dosnt mean that person sent it"

So how are these people getting convicted? Is it just because they havent got the brains to say they didnt do it?

    I'd imagine so.

With computers, you can tie a post to an IP address easily, which will narrow it down to a house if you've got a time for the post. It still doesn't prove who posted what.

If these people were stupid enough to use their phones, it narrows it down a lot further and it's then on the person to prove they didn't post it themselves, rather than the police having to prove they did.

There was a pedo esq bloke in some flats near me sending texts to wee lasses and the pigs said that they couldnt prove it was him sending them even tho it was his phone.

When the police come to arrest you, they act as if you already guilty and dont have a say, its a definite put on by them to make you think resistance is pointless. Not many people have the balls to turn around and say "it wasnt me, prove it"

Correct. I'd imagine that most people would accept it, apart from the ones who haven't done anything wrong. Thats how the ACS lawsuits for downloading dodgy porn started to come unglued.

If they tie you to a computer, phone or tablet (for example if you're videod using it in a public place), it's massively game over and you don't have a prayer.
