I'd say unlikely as most of the nights at Foundation seem to be doing fairly well.

what about the flats opposite? it won't take long for the residents to start complaining about noise polution.... they may HAVE to move in the future...

it'll be sad if we lose foundation...

Surely the people building the flats were aware they were building next to a club?

oh yeah, but once they're all moved in - they'll petition the council.... residents (the the millions that can be made from flats) will out weight 1 'drug' club's licence....

If it was to move to the Powerhouse though it would not be that bad as its a cracking club, i was really impressed with it last week when i went with that nice big black man :p

What i have heard is the bloke who runs Shindig has bought the Powerhouse and the three bars next to it Zinc,Baron/Baroness and twist, he is going to keep Baron/Baroness and Twist as gay bars but turn Zinc into a straight bar and have it open all the time (cos apparently its only open at minute when Powerhouse is on) and take Shindig the night to the Powerhouse. Unsure if Promise is movign there also or staying at Foundation, just curious if there is any truth behind any of this ???

The Powerhouse is a good venue, and I have heard rumours it is up for sale. Not sure if it would be a good thing for the gay scene if Promise/Shindig took it on though.

which is powerhouse? the old 'scotland yard'? that used to be the original powerhouse... i'm lost.

drug club : yeah, it' plays dance music all night, people dance, leave at 4 in the morning - hence it MUST be a drug club - thats how the lovely residents and old giffers on newcastle city council will see it....

I think they may want to be in a more "central" part of Newcastle cause the venue at Melbourne street is a bit out of the way to were the main crowds go/drink

No, that's now flats. The Powerhouse moved to George Street, which then became Satellite when the Powerhouse moved to Times Square.

Very much doubt Shindig would move to the Powerhouse.

The owner has already let himself down at the 12th birthday.

Plus, Im sure he is raking it in at the powerhouse on a sat.

It's not far from places like North Bar, Centurion, Apartment etc. Where Foundation is now is a bit of a trek too!

The same thing happened in Sheffield when they built flats right next to Republic then complained to the council about the noise, nothing happened tho.

The question is whether Shindig has bought it though, which would get rid of the problems experienced at the 12th birthday. And as far as I know the Powerhouse isn't that busy really, though I haven't been for months. I know the bars aren't doing as well as they should.
