    A sneak peek at the new nucastle.co.uk

    Some of you may be aware that I've been looking at carrying out a substantial overhaul to this site in order to make it easier to use and to encourage people to sign up and post.

    We're currently trialling a new version of forum software for this site that we're thinking about moving to permanently. It's got better facebook interaction, plus twitter integration (there's a "tweet" button on every page that you can click to tweet the thread via your own account).

    I've set up a copy of the nucastle board on this new software so you can have a poke about with it. Have a gander over to http://test.nucastle.co.uk and please let me know what you think on here. If you like it, please vote Yes for it on this thread. If you hate it, please click No accordingly ;)

    If you want to try it out, you can log in with your existing username and password. Don't go posting anything on the test site that you want to keep, as we'll be wiping it whether we decide to move to the new software or not.

    It looks shit, cheap as fuck and designed by a window licker. Kind of like when you type a webpage in wrong and it takes you to one of those dodgy hosting sites.

    I don't like the new logo and it looks a bit like its been done by a beginner. However I like the way its less cluttered and i like the pics next to the threads.

    They're meant to be sorting out a mobile style for it, but at the moment no.

    The new style is customisable, so I can add header images and backgrounds just like the current site if people want them. We can also add all the current smilies to the new set up as well.

    The user control panel on the new version is much better.

    I like the lack of clutter. the logo looks amateur - it's trixy and has dodgy letter spaces and the .co.uk bit is shit.

    Aye the old logo was better. The only problem I have is when viewing a thread, you can't make much distinction between replies on that white background.

    the text on the top tabs looks gash as well. also get rid of the second green line under the 'events & music' and 'the Banter' bit. doesn't need to be there

    There'll be room for event ads, we'll probably look at introducing google ads later on if we can do it in a way that isn't intrusive.
