Phillips Widescreen Tv with 'Ambilight' just seen an advert on tv.......... what the hell is the point of having a button on ya remote which can turn ya picture to black and white??? :spangled: With all this technology....... HD and that.... the first thing I want is to switch my tv back into Black and White! Have i missed summat? lol
thats not what ambilight is.. You can set the background light of the TV to compliment the room's colours, nice idea if you ask me. see, geddit?
 but they did mention the remote button which appeared to turn it B&W........ crap advert imo..........easy to be confused dint show it like them pics above......
Looks good in a still image, but how many movies actually stay the same kind of colour the whole way through? A bit of a gimmik if you ask me. It would be annoying if you had dark bits in a film (like you always do) and you had some stupid blue backlight on at the same time.
I think its a good feature... whether or not it does something for colour perception on the TV is another matter - but it would look ace in a living room as some mood lighting.
Lol it would take a few attempts if it were ever to be done correclty. In other words a whole load of customers blowing thousands on a tv with effects that were shit. I can't imagine coloured strobe tv will ever take off.
its all nice n pretty but doesnt it say something on the advert along the lines of being a huge advance for tvs? its a pretty light and nothing more
It does.. The colours change depending upon those used on screen.. I think it mean't to create an experience where you feel you are no longer watching a tv but are actually in the environment you are watching.
Re: Phillips Widescreen Tv with 'Ambilight' Some old black and white films are now available in colour thanks to new technology, but some purists still want to watch them in black and white.
