Tips The restaurant inspected by tax people who have demanded we have to pay 22% of our tips towards tax every week? I think this is absoloutly disgraceful!? Does anybody else agree with this?
Yeah, the company will be fiddling their books anyways, most do, do the same Just pocket half the tips and let them tax the other half to keep em sweet, coz they will investigate if suddenly no tips are recieved.
Yes u have to pay tax, theirs nothing u can do about it either unfortunately. This is why when u work in alot of restaurants u won't get tips because its too much fuss for the boss to sort out
OR it's now part of your bill already - the tip is part of the final total (on CC receipts, it's says gratuity or whatever at the bottom) paid for directly onto the card rather than in a tradition 'cash' sum
I get taxed a shit load from my commission i dont end up even getting half of what i earn on that  Welcome to the real world
im not totally sure what u mean, do u mean the tips are thrown n the till with the bill? where my mam works the moneys kept seperate and put in a pot, if they start mixing up the tips with the acual bill money it'll fuck things up when they cash up at the end of the night. at all the places my mams worked none of the staff has ever got tips because the boss claims its too much fuss to sort out tax wise.
But where I work you get taxed on your wages and then you get taxed on your tips aswell...something which people give you personally for your service and the stinking tax pig noses take it! It reminds me of robin hood where the sheriff man takes money off the baby rabbit
you shouldnt have to pay tax on Tips at all, as Jess said its something that customers give you for your service, a bit of thanx and appreciation from them. Its disgusting that they took it from you.
nar, when u get a credit card printed receipt and you're about to sign - it allows u to add money on to your bill as a tip - there's no actual 'sharpnel' passed around - it's charged to your card - hence goes thru the till
Aye its exactly the same for me, i get taxed on my basic wage and then on my 'tips' if you like or commission.
At the end of the day its income, the goverment are cunts, they tax everything you ever earn, I just got my pension money back from when i worked at Inland Revenue and the bastards taxed that even tho id been taxed on income before the pension was deducted
