I have been to California with work and would hate to live there. That "have a nice day" with gritted teeth pish would drive me mad.

I would love to try somewhere in Europe, Barcelona or a modern city but only for 12 months or so. Would miss the UK to much.

Whereabouts in Cali did you go?

The valley would probably drive me mad but the san fran seemed really cool - probably the only bareable part of america alongside new york i found.

New York is ok but think it would get on my nerves after more than a couple of weeks.
Chicago is much nicer, a beautiful city, nice people - the cleanest city i've ever been to  First time i've been somewhere outside the UK and would quite happily consider moving there.

cos ive got a car, and it aint gonna pay for itself. thats the only thing that ties me to the way i live at the moment.

tom/martin - apparently it's only the northern french that are a bunch of ***** - everyone who i came across was generally really nice and very helpful where i was in the south.. look at chirac being a **** over the rebate as an example of northern france scum..

my favourite parts of america are the pacific northwest - oregon and washington (& BC)... maybe because of the wet climate, the attitude of the people and the pace of life.. new england is pretty cool too.. full of stoned students hangin outside the dairy queen

i was living in new york, as much as i love the place and didn't realise at the time how much i'd miss manhattan, i couldn't wait to escape the blandness of it all, the people, the life, the food, the bars, the shops... it felt like i was living in some 70's yank b-movie...

san fransisco certainley has a vibrant feel about it especially in comparison with the droll fume pit that is los angeles and the toy town drive thru world of vegas... as for florida, i would happily see the place go up in one great bush fire.. apart from south beach

I lived in Fiji for 6 months recently and it was amazing. The culture is so laid back and relaxed, but the main thing was the fact that i wasnt bogged down by all the crap in the western world - the media, peer pressure and all sorts of things like that. It really does make such a difference to live a simple life away from the buzz of our world and you dont realise that until you experience it for yourself. So yea, id love to live out of England, somewhere with little contact with the western world!

i like Berlin + Copenhagen. Cool Places.

Denmark has an amzing standard of living, but you pay for it, You get taxed for farting over there. Income tax is about 60% or something.

I went travelling in 2001/02 and lived in Australia for 10 months. Loved it.

My girlfriend is desperate to move to Europe. She has her own property and is willing to buy a place over there. However, she will not move to Australia, which is where, if anywhere I would like to move on a permanent basis.

Saying that though, Newcastle aint all that bad for me at the mo.

I stayed right in the centre of Silicon Valley (San Jose) but visited places like Los Gatos (looks like a film set) & Santa Cruz (sunny Blackpool).

San Francisco was pretty cool but I was only there for about 4 hours. I took a cable car ride to Fishermans warf, took a pic of Alcatraz and had to leave. :(

I want to live in America. In my job they have offices all over the USA so if I ever decide for definate they would transfer me over there. Might do in a few years time. If my other half will come with me.
