Another call centre off to India! Well if any of you have an HP (Hewlett Packard) product and you need some tech support expect some indian dude who hasnt a clue what your saying and in the middle of a 12 hour night shift to answer the phone. Thats the announcement we had at work today. Our call centre is moving over there and we have been given 2 months notice!! Luckily im not affected by the move but 350 others are out of a job now. Way to go! I only got the job last month, thought i was gonna have to do some job hunting again. Feel sorry for all the others who have worked there for years tho.
thats awful mate - when our economy goes under because people have lost all their jobs to outsourcing, then its just gonna mean we dont need support in india any more and they lose their jobs aswell. Its just greed right now, but will come back to haunt everyone.
I dont get how u got given 2 months notice but aint affected? :spangled: Am i just being thick? Its bad crack for the workers i agree...but from a business point of view u can see why they do it. Doesnt make it right tho
It's only Qualifications (the proper tech support) that are going, the entry level call handlers are staying. ie: "Hi, welcome blah de blah... Have you tried to solve your problem through www.hp.co.uk? Yes you have? One moment please" dum de dum de dum.... "Helo-der".
Just like when we lost the mines, the docks, the mills, etc. The reality is the largest proportion of our GDP is made up of financial services... not calls centres.
What does newcastle have to do with the GDP of the UK.... you started talking about the UK economy... I pulled you.
I never said either, i was making broad generalisations that could be interpreted in a multitude of ways meaning that i could quite possibly be making two diametrically opposite statements that may very well be correct at the same time.
I'm not disputing what you said, its in plain text... its just a little far fetched. Newcastle doesnt have that big an impact on india and call centres dont have that big an impact on the UK economy
I temped on the PC-1 team, was a good laugh, a good team, boss was class, but the company itself stank. I most enjoyed getting calls like "I can't turn my pc off, it's stuck at the Windows is shutting down screen" or "My 'son' must have been looking at adult sites on the net and I have a £300 phone bill" Still know a couple of people there, and they haven't been told the last date of the campaign yet - looks like they're getting fucked around.
national rail enquiries have moved to india and they are fucking shite, im not bothered about where the centres are based but i think they need to train the staff to a higher level as they give out some awful information
its starting to happen in the software world now. Java programming is being outsourced to India. Its happening in front of me every day at work
