Opinions needed! I'm decorating my flat up the road with a view to putting it on the market and selling it. I have finished painting most of the rooms and have ripped up two of the carpets - one in the living room and one in the hall/reception area. Should I fork out a couple of hundred quid and put new laminate flooring down (I can get it cost price and layed for free) OR buy a couple of cheap new carpets and put them down OR leave the floorboards bare and just sell it as a shell? What do people expect when looking for a new flat? I reckon it adds value putting the flooring down but some of my mates that are helping me say I am wasting my time and money. Opinions will be appreciated. :bang:
sand the floorboards and stain them m8 cheaper n looks well nice - also not much hassel for anyone who wants to buy the flat to put carpet or lamenated flooring down hope this helps ya
laminate flooring aint expensive as u say and easy to fit. i wud put that down - shows u have made an effort at least...also much better to look at than just floorboards
give the place a lick of paint try and paint all the walls a neutral colour (cream/white) as some people dont have the same taste as you and the front garden should be neet and tidy even give the front door a lick of paint unless it's p.v.c. first impressions always count and as for the floor just sand it down and stain it naturall make sure you sand the floor all level before you stain it using a very course sand paper working it down to the finest grade ive done my house like this and it looks well nice hope this helps ya some
Put either carpets or laminate down Craig. I guarantee you it will add value. If you put carpets down, make it a fairly neutral colour. Same goes for the painting.
I finished all the paint work in neutral colours so it's just the flooring left. Think I'll opt for the laminate.
LAMINATE IS the way 4ward,,piece of piss 2 lay an if its dun right it looks wel lush. An if the to be owners daint like it it take half the time to rip up an start again cant loose m8
Sand the floorboards. They'll look better than laminate even if they are uneven. Laminate just looks cheap these days. If you do want to put a flooring down though, use real wood.
laminate, especially if it's cheap and fitted, is a good idea for doing a place uo to sell. u don't wanna spend it on real wood if yer selling it... laminate looks good and does the biz....
Agreed, there is too many boards needing replaced. Think I'll go for the laminate, it's a perfect first time buyers area & size of flat.
