Radio 1's dance line-up will be conquering new territory as of summer 2005.

We can reveal that next summer Radio 1 will be adding Global Gathering to its already bulging dance event line-up, which includes the Miami Winter Music Conference and Pete Tong in Ibiza.

However, there will be more changes and additions to follow, with talks underway for some brand new shows - keep checking back for further details.

Although the schedule may differ from 2004, Radio 1's reassuring fans that the station's commitment to dance music is still strong:

"After seven great years at Homelands and Creamfields we have decided it is time to take in some other highlights of the dance calendar. We have therefore decided to link up with Global Gathering for 2005."

"In addition we are going to be at a series of more niche dance events such as Skolbeats. This is in recognition of the fact that the dance music scene has fragmented into a variety of exciting sub genres that each require their own focus."

"Overall there will be no less dedication to dance music on the network, we will simply be focussing on different areas."

RNB wont take over because the people who listen to it do just that.......listen, they dont love the music they normally just love the club they are in and would be there regardless of what is being played.......half of them have jumped on the hed kandi and funky house bandwagon and soon enough there will be another style they are listening to and following........they just listen to what the radio and club plays.

It was better when ess mixes on NYE were from smaller more intimate clubs i reckon.

I know im an arse about arena gigs and the like - but so many sets from big events just feel so boring and 'cookie cutter'.

Some more low key, underground stuff would be wicked i think.

R&B can lick my balls though.

Dont they have an 'on demand' thing on the website or something?

See what u mean though.. a night out listening to 'dance' music then back home to listen to hip hop... one of the faster ways back to earth

Indeed... the last few places ive done r&b sets have been packed, but what can you expect when every pop group in the world are doing an 'R&B' style track these days?

I hate ppl who ask for R&B, then expect you to play Jamelia or something.... nearly as much as ppl who ask for 'Dance' then expect you to play some shit Galaxy is pumping out all day....

I could really get in to a massive rant about genres now but im gonna step away from the keyboard
