Sometimes life can be a right twat........... Britain's unluckiest punter dies Stuart Bolland planned to share some winnings with Jack Lee A pensioner who lost out on a near £1m betting jackpot has died hours before he was to be given a share of another winner's windfall. Jack Lee, 75, from Newcastle missed out on more than £850,000 when the last of six chosen winners was disqualified. He was due to be presented with £15,000 as a goodwill gesture by the winner of a similar multiple bet from Manchester. But it emerged that Mr Lee, who placed a £2 stake on the six-horse bet, died at his Tyneside home on Tuesday. Mr Lee was dubbed Britain's unluckiest punter after being denied the massive cash prize having placed bets on the totescoop 6. 'Passed away' Fellow punter Stuart Bolland, 42, of Cadishead, Greater Manchester, won £1.1m and had pledged to share his winnings with Mr Lee after hearing of his bad luck. Mr Lee was due to be presented with the cash at a media event arranged by bookmakers Betfred in Manchester on Wednesday. Mr Lee's selection, the Mark Tompkins-trained Babodana was disqualified from first place in the Ben Marshall Stakes at Newmarket on 30 October. Tom Lee of Betfred said: "Jack sadly passed away last night. "We heard the news from a driver we had sent up to bring him to today's presentation. "Everyone is naturally very down about it, including Stuart Bolland, the winner, who was very cut up about it."
