ive ALWAYS wanted a brace. i used to ask my nice dentist every time i was there. She told me i couldnt have one as my teeth were perfect.

Ooh they absolutely hurt like shit, and just when you get used to it, they tighten the wire.

Not too noticeable though unless you're daft and get brightly coloured band thingies on it.

Had one for years though and my teeth are still wonky.. lot better than they were though.

I had one of those evil head braces as shown in that charming picture you posted. Although actually mine was worse than that because I had like, a net that went over my head. Looked a little like Hannibal Lector in it. I had to wear it in bed too which was uncomfortable. I used to wear it around the house too and once answered the door to the poor avon lady in it(I forgot I had it on)- her face was a picture!
After that I had fixed train tracks up and down for 2 years. They didn't hurt at all, just couldnt eat stuff like toffee.
And after that I had a removable brace.

They're not that bad, honestly, and in the end when youget them taken off you'll be so proud you'll be wandering around looking like this:
