    Hypnotism

Saw a hypnotist last night at my students union.

Was very entertaining, but occasionally you would see a cheeky grin from the people up on stage.

I was talking to a guy afterwards who was up on stage and he said it was basically just doing as the guy told you to do, essentially acting.

I have not been hypnotised myself so I have absolutley no idea as to wether it's real or not!

Any of you lot been hypnotised? What happened?

a friend of mine uses it for health reasons, i.e. helping to quit smoking, weight loss, etc - u know it's going on - but its if i can RESIST doing what he tells you.

Stage hypnotists seem to over do it - i reckon thats bollocks

A lad I work with is a fully qualified hypnotherapist.

There's a big difference between that and stage hypnotism tho (as he will be the first to tell you).

He is qualified to work for the NHS and has a number of clients he's helping loose weight and stop smoking.

When I was in Majorca I saw this hypnotist at our hotel, he was pretty good actually and said that only some people can properly be hypnotised...did a test with everyone in the audience trying to make our hands stick together and if you couldn't get them apart you had to go up onto stage.

    Mine came apart :(

But then like it was so funny, it really did look like they didn't have a clue what was going on. He even picked one of them out (this lass who loved attention and went up every night for every different show!) who he knew was faking it, pretending to be hypnotised and told her to go sit back down in the audience

At the end he told them the second they sat back down in their seat in the audience they'd remember everything they'd done. Their faces were amazing the second they sat down!!

I think hypnotism is real, and a good laugh too

I'm a bit cynical about hypnotism. I think you have to believe in it, to be hypnotised:confused:
