Promise has the most friendly, clued up and up for it crowd in the UK says Hardwick

    By Lee Ridley

Promise has the most friendly, clued up and up for it crowd in the UK. That is the view of DJ Matt Hardwick ahead of his return to the Promise decks next Friday (24th September).

In an exclusive interview, he said: “The crowd is amazing. It’s the friendliest, clued-up and up for it crowd in the UK.

“I also like the booming system and the quality of the line ups. I just love Promise, but I don’t need to tell you that.”

Promise favourite Hardwick also hinted at some treats on the night in question. He said: “I’ll have just my usual mix of upfront tracks with a little twist of nostalgia for good measure.

“I’ve got a couple of new tracks that I know will be massive at Promise. I know for a fact that I will get a few butterflies in my stomach before I play them as I know they will blow the roof off.”

Matt has had a busy summer, DJing all over the world in the last month alone. However, he says the highlights for him were probably Creamfields and Judgement Sunday in Ibiza.

During this time, some of his favourite tracks have been Stenna Sky Line and Activa ft Aled Mann - In Essence.

He comments: “They are both tracks by exciting new producers who I feel will take the scene by storm over the coming months.”

As well as working on a remix for a track by Activa and Aled Mann called In Essence, next week he is getting to work on the next MH vs S&P track.

Matt continues: “The best thing about being a DJ is being paid to do something you love. Nothing can beat it. Also, particularly in the last two years, getting to meet so many new people from the clubs I play at across the world. The travelling is fantastic but it really takes its toll!”

    And his ultimate gig?

“When the crowd follow the music in the way I intend them to follow it.” He says.

“This perfect synergy is what makes a gig for me. It doesn’t always happen but when it does sparks fly....usually at Promise.

“Thanks for the support guys. It means the world to me!”

Matt Hardwick will be joined at Foundation in Newcastle on Friday 24th September 2004 by Ferry Corsten (three hour set), Ronald Van Gelderen and Richard Tulip. The back room will have funk from Pete Robinson, Luke Nixon and Mark Deakin.

Doors open from 9pm until 4am with door tax being £12/£13. For more information, go to www.promisealways.com.

Never heard anything more about it, but seeing as no one from Promise has mentioned it anymore I'm guessing they didn't get it.
