    Bangkok or Hong Kong????

    Right, me + Rach are going on holiday to Thailand next year. I wanted to go to Bangkok for 3 days, Hong Kong for 3 days, then Koh Samui (are tropical island place) for 5 nights, but now Rach doesn't want to because she wants longer on the Island, because it's the really the only reason she wants to go, which is fair enough tbh.

    So now I have to choose between Hong Kong + Bangkok. I need to decide! I have made a poll, but I also want views from anyone who has been to either place, or know's anything about them. Where's nicer, which place is there more to do, etc, etc?? Thank You!:D

    Ive been to hong kong and its incredible, but very expensive - it depends on if you want to see asia the whole "rough and ready" style.. if so ... Bangkok it is.

    If you want to be blown away by the skyscrapers and money... Hong Kong... although i would say you will have seen everything there is to see within 2-3 days in hong kong.

    You'll have an incredible time no matter where you go :)

    Thanks mate, good info. Is there loads to do actually in Hong Kong, sightseeing places, etc? We are already going to be in Thailand anyways, on an Island, so we're going to see the rough side of it anyways!:lol:

    I would say defo hong kong....it takes a bit longer to adjust to a place like bangkok and I doubt you would see the fun in it aftre just a few days!!

    hong kong is great but its really really small... so once youve done a few things... you've hit a wall. Having said that its an incredible place and you HAVE to go there. The sky scrapers on Hong Kong island will blow you AWAY.

    If you do only ONE thing - go up to the peak at night and look down on all the skyscrapers - you'll remember that for the rest of your life :)

    Its a bit like london with the sights and sounds though... its all a bit 'touristy'... so gets a bit samey quite quickly.

    Is the peak the place you get the tram upto? Looks fooking amazing!:eek:

    I like touristy:oops: :p for a while anyways. I think it will make it a really diverse holiday with the hussle + bustle of Hong Kong and tranquility of our Island. Seeing both sides of Asia!:)

    Bangkok, is hot, smelly and noisy.

    The rest of Thailand is amazing though.

    I would go to Hong Kong.

    Hong Kong is amazing, well worth a visit. I went in 1988, so it will have changed dramatically since then, but the places I would go to are the Peak, Stanley, the Lanes, and possibly Lantau island if you have time.

    Try to find a bar called the Go Down, if it's still there - frequented by the stars but a really cool little place. Something tells me it may have changed over the last 16 years though!
