D-day I thought all the heads of state spoke well, EVEN BUSH!!!! Glad to see the Germans were @ this gig.
Watched this nearly all of sunday and some of saturday. Made me feel really proud of what people have done in the past for this country and world peace
our planes in the fly bys made the others look shit haway' the lads nah, was good, a well organised and touching display.
I aint a royalist but I think the Queen doing the D-Day speech means something to the veterans as opposed to say Blair doing it.
Bush ended well, but his speech started off far too focused on the USA and its part in the war, you would think they were the only people who fought it jeez..... But he picked up and it was quite moving at the end (congrats to his speech writer) .... you could tell all the tension in the air with Franco/US relations the way they are, it was quite wierd.
Definately. it would have been a piss take if he did it. Been loving all the coverage it's been getting, if maybe they'd been wearing it thin by sunday night. and i'm proud to say my dad flew in Lancaster bombers in WWII.
I watched the program last night and I also felt very proud. It was also frightening to think that if I had been born 50 years ago that could well have been me in one of those boats, and would I have had as much courage as the lads who were there.
