onbury Festival organisers have been bombarded with complaints after a frustrating ticketing system left thousands unable to buy tickets.

After going on-sale at 8pm this evening, around 80,000 tickets are now thought to have been sold, but many people have experienced terrific problems buying theirs.

According to some of the aggrieved punters, phone lines have been constantly engaged and the website offering online tickets is flooded with applications, making the process virtually impossible.

Organiser Michael Eavis has this morning asked those still trying to buy tickets to be patient, whilst his daughter Emily said the system was working as planned.

Eavis Snr told the BBC: "Just too many people want to come, it is very difficult for all of it to run smoothly."

Meanwhile, Emily said: "The phone lines are working really well. Keep trying. We’ve sold 60,000. They’re going at a rate of about 100 per minute.

"But please keep trying. Nothing has crashed. Don’t worry. There’s nothing that’s not working and everything’s running well."

This year's system has been radically altered in a bid to avoid last year's fiasco, in which thousands of tickets were bought by touts and sold for extortionate figures online.

Amongst the many furious festival-goers is one man who has spent around seven hours trying to get in and has placed an advert on ebay, offering non-existent tickets.

He explains: "I am selling 2 tickets to the Glastonbury Festival. These are 2 physical tickets just like the ones I am trying to get. You should put as much faith into receiving these tickets from me as you do getting them online."

The current bid stands at £2,000,100.00

its fucked up big time - ive heard of a lot of people in the same situation as me - 4 tickets instead of 2...

it told me i couldnt get the first two tickets due to the allocated amount being given out already - so i started again changing my address to my home one...

10 mins later i have confirmation that ive orderd 4 tickets and 2 car park passes...

and the only way to buy tickets is at the bottom of this page>>>

theres no helpline or email to complain yet. fucking joke.

still at least im going :D

Ps- Cust Srv Line is 0871 22 00 260 its always engaged though

Yeah only two tickets per card, so any further transactions will be declined.

Think it'll be fine though :)
