The film is simply about the last 12 hours of the life of Jesus. Not much time to stray away from the Bible. I disagree about it looking pants. From the trailer it looks great, and even though I'm not religious, I can tell it is going to stir my emotions up, which is what I love a film to do.

Mel Gibson used S25 million of his own money to complete the project - if it was to satisfy the Hollywood need for big blockbusters then he would never of took such a risk. Religious films are always risky in regards to whether they will be a success or not, particularly in America. Take The Last Temptation of Chirst for example. Brilliant film, and a totally mind blowing performace form Willem Dafoe. Was a flop in America and has never got the recognition it deserves.

    such words of enlightenment :p

    1. This isn't a money making hollywood film, it doesn't follow the block buster formula.... As Ferox pointed out this was a private investment made a religious fundlementalist, the film even making money was a bgi gamble (when you thik that fight club lost money at the box office)... Whether this was created for educational purposes, artistic pruposes, anti-semite purposes, etc. I don't know - but I strongley doubt it was amde to make big money.

    2. Religion isn't the cause the of trouble manipulation of religion by influencial/powerful figures are the cause of wars... Religion is a good thing.

I cried at that bit the first time I seen it though my fav bit was Miriam getting her baps out.

They showed it in some boozer in Paris the night before the Brazil match in 98. The place was jumping and I ended up painting my face the next day for the match

fight club was a disaster it lost millions... however video sales made up for this loss.

Fight club has a plot hollywood would predict to make money... fighting, terrorism, cults, sex, in ENGLISH, etc. Most hollywood execs wouldn't touch a film like TPOTC with a barge pole... its too risky.
