Same old, same old Peter Beardsley pounded local rivals, Sunderland and Middlesbrough with a staggering nine-goal blast at the Telewest Arena on Sunday night. Newcastle won the Northern Masters title in some style after beating Boro 5-2 to clinch the title and thumping the mackems 7-1 in the final group game. Beardsley grabbed a hat-trick in the final and five against Sunderland with his other strike winning the group game against the Tessiders. United got off to a steady start beating Beardsley's former club, Everton, 1-0 thanks to an Ian Bogie goal and then Pedro got the only goal of another tight game against Boro. But the highlight of the night was a five-goal blast against the Wearsiders with Ruel Fox and Robert Lee completing the scoring. The final ended up being a one-sided affair with a Beardsley penalty giving the favourites an early lead. Kevin Scott headed a bizarre own goal but Lee restored the advantage before Liam O'Brien thumped in a long-range third. Beardsley made it 4-1 in the second half and rounded the evening off with a wonderful goal in the final seconds to end a memorable evening, despite former Mag John Hendrie scoring with the last kick of the game for Boro. Newcastle go through to the Finals which will be held at the Telewest Arena, in Newcastle on September 7th.

Both players were put on the transfer list BY THE CLUB!! Neither player had asked to leave. James Gardener, 1 of the players is the current England U18 captain, has been told he will not be allowed to join Manchester Utd.
