just seems that he is the only DJ who claims to be a techno DJ, yet never plays at techno clubs, but then plays at alot of trance clubs and gets away with playin a totally different sound to what normally gets played at the club, which i suppose is a good thing and a bad thing

This is what the whole meganite project is about. To be fair just because he dosnt play techno nites in Britain dosnt mean he dosnt play techno clubs.

When Mauro plays in Germany for instance he plays with the likes of Dj Rush, Sven Vath, Chris Liebing and the likes. He dosnt play any trance clubs in germany, just techno. The same story as in Belgium, Switzerland and of coarse Italy.

In most of those mentioned countries techno is the main genre of music on the techno scene in the UK is alot harder to break because of "The Purists".

In saying that some people used to class Rez and Judgement day as techno events.

    Says it all really.

Does it matter if picotto plays at techno clubs???

In every interview I've ever read with him he's refused to define his style. I don't ever recall him saying he was a "pure" techno DJ....

We like him because he plays what he plays. We don't care if it's techno, "fisher price" techno, tech house, hard house, tech trance or whatever...

Last time Mauro played for Gatecrasher was at Heaven in September.

Mauro crosses his sound alot involving mainly techno, house, electro, tiny elements of hard trance really.

I really like him........... I dont listen to him because I think he is techno and its cool to listen to techno:rolleyes:

I used to like him loads. Now I think that his style is too repetitive at times. He's still got the best stage presence of any dj.
    Like his older stuff better.:D

He had to play for Gatecrasher again though because he was contracted too... when GC stopped being weekly, he still had a couple of 6 hour sets left to do, so they had to put him on the bill at Heaven.

It makes me laugh reading all the comment about "fisher price techno" ect. I fail to see what makes it fisher price when DJs like Sven Vath, Ritchie Hawtin, Car Cox play the exact same playlists in their set and you call them techno masters.. I could argue the story till Im blue in the face but you can never win agains IGNORANCE. So next time he's playing dont come, no seriously DONT COME! cos it means someone who does appreciate him will get the chance. You wont be missed and the club will still be packed without you.......

P.S- Mark, he is one of the funniest guys I know and one of the most accomidating nice people I know too. I look foward to seeing him rock a packed out Promise again soon! I also know it will be a great nite!!!:D Hopefully see you before then but if not, we'll make it a night to remember!!:D

So you say Sven Vath and Carl Cox play exactly the same style sets as Picotto?  When was the last time you saw either of them?

They may play the odd tune that Picotto does... but that hardly makes them 'the exact same playlists' :dunce:
