    2. I have firefox setup to only allow one browser at once.

    how do you set it to only allow one browser at once? does that mean if you click to open a new one it just adds a tab?

    can you do this in IE7 too?

    I don't think IE7 will do it.

    what you need is firefox with...

    Tab mix pro - locks all sessions down to one instance of firefox.
    Permatabs - locks pages you use a lot as always visible (like email etc)
    IE tab - allows you to open IE only pages in IE (such as online banking pages without leaving firefox.
    Foxmarks - allows you to sync your bookmarks (faves) across many pcs in almost real time.
