it was always recommended if your sitting longer than THREE MINS as it takes loads of fuel to reignite the engine. you cant be turning your engine off every 30 seconds you dimwits. Imagine the town on a winters morning when half the cars wont restart lol
Change your airfilter once a year. Most cars only require it changing once every three, but a dirty filter can make up to a 10% difference to your MPG, and when a filter costs less than £20 (and they usually do, mine only costs £3), its worth changing on a regular basis.
i used a photocopied bus pass until i was 27. Saved a fucking fortune. Being a sexy looking fucker i could pass for being under 21 till 28. WINNER
£1.41 cheapest for Diesel ATM, think about 8p cheaper for Petrol. Have heard rumours it could rise close to £2 by end year
Thats already been said dude - walking isn't realistic most of the time. If you don't care the don't waste your time replying.
i just fill up and charge the customer when running my landy .. so the cost isnt much of an issue these days the best way to save juice is by buying a juice guzzlin motor, then u wont use it cos it cost too much to run
I'm with you on this as I'm doing 25,000 miles per annum and I think about it all the time. Nass tips: When accelerating, going downhill get up the gears as fast as you can and tread lightly on the accelerator meaning your revs are so low you can barely hear them. Generally you should never be putting your foot all the way down unless there is urgency. When going downhill - Accelerate ever so slightly or remain the same speed. When going uphill - Decelerate ever so slightly all the way up (makes a big difference!) When approaching corners or observing slowing traffic speeds, long before you get to them, take your foot off the gas and let the revs drop themselves. Change down gear to slow yourself, and you should only lightly need to apply the brakes. Pressing the brakes harder when you're cornering means you've wasted all the fuel you've burned on your way to it. On motorways think 60mph not 80mph and plan your journey in advance to account for the extra time it would take you. Optimum is 56-58mph. My 1.6tdci Ford Focus gets about 70mpg when I do this. Up yours to Shell Manual cars are better than automatic - with the exception of VW Bluemotion DSG gearboxes but if you're trying to save money, you're not buying one of them. Windows must only be opened a tiny bit. Aircon is running a second engine to cool you down and is only to be used on the 3 hot days we get every year in UK. Oil topped up (not too much) Get your engine ECU remapped by Autolink Garage on Sandyford. He looks after a lot of rally cars and regularly services my high mileage car. You can expect an extra 3 to 5 mpg from doing this - more if you drive like described above. 0191 2303535
Some canny tips on here I do an 80 mile round trip a day so will come in handy. Hawthorne services on A19 is £1.37 /l My handbook says average mpg is 45 but I always get about 55-60
Save money by putting much larger wheels on the back of your car. That way you will always be going downhill, thereby saving on fuel.
I suddenly feel very wasteful. The gauge on my car reads "18.1mpg" average. Although my driving style is to blame for that. Only the fact that i can put my mileage through expenses stops me from crying myself to sleep every night.
Got my MPG to 45, from 39 in the last month through a series of coasting, increased speeds, correct gear changes, inflated tyres, traffic anticipation
o how times change , this site was once a wash with trance numbtys and cowie munchers ,nows its pipe n slippers and saving for your pension
